Genealogy Research Sites Empty Genealogy Research Sites

Post by Admin Tue Jul 23, 2013 5:31 pm

I keep one window w/ several tabs open @ one time almost all the time.  The sites I use most (for genealogy research) are FamilySearch.org, Find A Grave & Google - Google search & Google books.

If the people I'm working on lived/died in MO - I also use this site (for their death certificates) - http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/resources/deathcertificates

Just found this: http://www.searchforancestors.com/utility/birthday.html.  If you know someone's death date & age (5y3m2d) you can figure out birthday.

If you have access to the paid sites - ancestry, fold 3, etc., please do let us know.

Also feel free to post any sites you use here.

    Thanks. Smile

My favorite sites, especially since they are free to use and produce quality records, are www.familysearch.org and www.archive.org . For anyone who speaks French, or even if they don't, http://www.francegenweb.org/ is a great site. The biggest problem with this site is that French records were dated using the old French dating system until the late eighteenth or early nineteenth century, which makes locating a record by date very difficult. Most of the photocopied records are almost illegible anyway.

    Thanks for the info.

The only thing I can think of I need help w/ now is mom's side.

Her dad was James Francis Jones: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=37456982

His parents were James Bryant Jones & Zula Etoe Neal (he's linked to both).

I can't figure out who James Bryant Jones' parents were.

Zula Etoe Neal's parents were Francis Whitcomb Neal & Mary Elizabeth Lawson (she's linked to both). I can't figure out who either of their parents were.

Otherwise - I hope you've joined a group so you can see things posted within the group. Smile
